How to Use VPN?

Installation and Configuration of VPN

  1. Ensure you have the correct login credentials for your @edu.uekat.pl domain account.
  2. Activate access to the university Wi-Fi network (eduroam). (How to activate wireless network access or change your password?). If your account is already active, instead of Enable, a button to change the eduroam access password will appear.
  3. Download and install the VPN client. Select the latest available version. If you encounter issues, you can try installing an older version. You can download the program from the manufacturer’s website: https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-downloads.
    Search for FortiClientVPN in the list of available software and click DOWNLOAD.
  4. Download the configuration file.
  5. After installation, open the application console. To do this, find the program icon on the Windows taskbar, right-click, and select Open FortiClient Console from the drop-down menu.
  6. Unlock the program settings by clicking the lock icon in the top menu. The icon will disappear after being unlocked.
  7. Go to the program settings by clicking the gear icon in the top menu.
  8. Upload the VPN configuration. In the settings window, click Restore.
  9. In the open window, point to the downloaded configuration file.
  10. In the next window, enter the password for the file and confirm the changes by clicking OK. You will receive the password from your course instructor.
  11. If the password is correct, a message Configuration restored successfully will appear. If the password is incorrect, you will see an Incorrect password message. Check the password and try again.

Note: If you have issues uploading the configuration using the Restore function (MacOS), you must configure the connection manually. Required data is available in the link provided in step 4 (7zip archive).

  1. Connect to the vpnvdi network. In the program window, select vpnvdi in the VPN Name field. In the Username field, enter your access login, and in the Password field, your EDUROAM (Wi-Fi) account password. Then click Connect.
    The Google Workspace login is, for example, firstname.lastname@edu.uekat.pl or firstname.lastname@uekat.pl
  1. If you have entered the correct login details, the program window will minimize, and a lock icon will appear on the taskbar. After finishing your work, disconnect by pressing the Disconnect button in the main program window.
